Victorian Box Sash Windows
This was in the Camberwell SE5, South East London area.
These windows & doors were from the early Victorian period. The windows were overhauled, new pulleys were fitted with new sash cords, the sashes were realigned & new wag tails were fitted between the existing iron weights. Hardwood patches were inserted to sympathetically restore the window with much of the original joinery as possible. All ironmongery was matched with the existing ironmongery where needed.

The paint was stripped back to the bare wood. Red oxide paint was chemically removed & a heat gun was used with a scraper to scrape off the lead paint underneath; personal protection equipment was used such as, breathing mask; goggles & gloves. This was then repaired where required using a two part wood filler. The external window & the exterior wood shutters were painted using a Dulux Aqua Tec Weathershield paint system, which is a micro porous paint. This was a matt finish as requested.

The exterior front door was reinforced with hardwood patches; strengthening the centre part of the door. New larger hinges were fitted to make the door more secure. An interior kick plate was replaced. The heritage colour of the door was Balmoral Green this was stripped back & restored & repainted using Dulux Aqua Tec Weathershield paint matching the existing colour. The Palladium style pillars around the door were also restored & repainted. A new Banham BS3621 kitemarked six lever mortise lock was fitted.
