WAXED COTTON SASH CORD
Using waxed cotton sash cord is the traditional method of hanging lead weights. We use UK manufactured cotton sash that has a polyester core to add extra strength. It is available in 5mm, 6mm, 7mm and 8mm cord diameter and offers maximum weights between 30kg and 50kg.

POLYESTER SASH CORD
Polyester sash cord is diamond braided which is very strong and will not stretch. It is available in 6mm or 8mm cord diameter. Recommended sash weights are 50kg and 75 kg respectively. This is also manufactured in the UK.

PLATED NYLON SASH CORD
Nylon sash cord has higher strength and will last longer. It is all white with no coloured braids, therefore, giving it a traditional look. It is available in 6mm or 8mm cord diameter. Recommended sash weights are 64kg and 120kg respectively. This is also manufactured in the UK.
Fortunately, although the mechanism may look complicated, replacing a broken cord is a job that can be done with relative ease if you have the right expertise.

If you have a broken sash cord, the window will be difficult to open and will judder as it is raised or lowered. If both cords are broken, the window will not stay open. It's best to renew both cords if one has rotted.

Always remember that sashes can be very heavy, so great care has to be taken when working with them.
