This listed building did not allow for structural alterations to take place. Therefore, the hardwood sashes were restored, refurbished and overhauled. The pulleys were matched and changed with the existing sash cords matched and replaced. All ironmongery was matched and changed accordingly with Brass Fitch fasteners being changed where necessary along with Sash lifts and D handles, Sash locks were matched and renewed where necessary. Hardwood was spliced into the frame to repair any damage present; hardwood patches were utilised where needed. These were all fitted using a two-part wood filler and rubbed down to a high class finish being painted and finished with an external oil-based paint system.
The external concrete cills were changed or restored and renovated with mortar repairs where deemed necessary. The concrete head stone above was also stripped back and stabiliser was applied to the masonry which was subsequently painted with a masonry paint system and restored to its former glory.
On the scaffold the Health & Safety plan was adhered to strictly - all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) was worn i.e. hi-visibility vests, hard hats, steel safety boots and gloves. Safety barriers and warning signs were erected to warn of overhead danger and falling objects to the public.
Method statements were followed implicitly, ensuring a safe working environment, adhering to Health & Safety Executive rules and regulations.
