By Draught proofing and getting rid of any gaps around your windows you will achieve the same quality and feel of a double glazed sealed unit, at a fraction of the cost. This is also an economical solution, helping to lower heating bills.
BOX SASH WINDOWS
As buildings age this can lead to subsidence causing them to move or settle, this can cause the Box Frame to distort creating unwanted gaps that allow draughts and cold air to penetrate. It can also make the window rattle due to the wind and vibrations. This can be quite uneconomical as it allows valuable heat to escape, it also allows dust and dirt in.
The Box Frame that is fitted into the building runs in two separate channels allowing the Box Sash Window to have two sliding Sashes. The channels are separated by Parting Beads on the side walls of the Box holding the pulleys, cords and weights. The channels are formed by Staff Beads on the inner room-facing frame. At Sashmasters our skilled Craftsmen can adjust and correct alignment of each Sash to the Box and install new Parting and Staff Beads to each frame. A Brush Pile Strip is routered and fitted to the Staff Bead thus allowing the Sashes to slide without obstruction, it also prevents water, dust, draughts, dirt and pollen penetrating and stops heat from escaping when the window is firmly shut.
A new Parting Bead is fitted with Wings that are made from UV stablised PVC. This allows the Sashes to slide free from obstruction, it also stops dirt and dust from penetrating and prohibits rattles when the window is firmly shut.
A Strip of Brush Pile is recessed into where the Sashes join the meeting rail and the frame. We pay close attention to detail when repairing your windows to their original style. If weights need to be adjusted for each Sash, then this is done accordingly. It is mandatory for new Sash Cords to be fitted, we match existing Ironmongery and fit industry approved security locks.
WOODEN CASEMENT AND TOP OPENING WINDOWS
After removal of each window we make any adjustments or repairs that are deemed necessary, then four strips of Brush Pile are routered and channelled into each sash, this prevents, water, dust draughts, dirt and pollen from penetrating and stop heat from escaping when the window is firmly shut.
At this stage if new Sashes are required, these are supplied and fitted with our Draught proofing system and primed and undercoated ready for painting.
Draught proofing can help you maintain the character of your home and let you keep and enhance your original windows, whilst allowing you to have a comfortable and warmer home. This is an economical solution to having lower heating costs, noise reduction and enjoying the comfort of your home.
