FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL
The FSC on timber products enables one to buy forest products of all kinds, buy with confidence with the knowledge one is not contributing to global forest destruction. Trees are re-planted or allowed to regenerate naturally. The forest must be well managed with respect for the environment, wildlife & people who live & work in them & to protect the indigenous peoples rights to methods of felling trees. Parts of the forest are protected solely for the protection of rare animal & plants; sacred sites in the forest are exempt from felling.

Forest owners use local workers to run the forest, providing training, safety equipment & decent salary. Support the local community – such as through the development of schools. All wood is tracked from forest to the store, every link between the forest & consumer is certified FSC is the only wood certification scheme endorsed by WWF, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace & The Woodland Trust. As trees grow they help reduce CO2 by storing it away, they clean the atmosphere of pollutants & help create the oxygen we breath. Substituting a cubic metre of wood for other building materials can save almost 2 tonnes of CO2.
