Fitting of Box Sash with lead weights
This job was in the South Woodford E18 area.
Our Master Carpenter & Joiner was fitting a new Box Sash window in the new opening for which the bricks were recently laid. Handmade lead weights were attached to the nylon twisted Sash cord and were then knotted at the top awaiting the fitting of the Sash window.

Akrows were erected inside as this was a load-bearing wall. Channels were cut out of the wall to house strong boys (these are attached to the akrow and tightened with a collar, twisted tight on the threads on the akrow and secured into the load-bearing wall). A concrete cill was cast in shuttering ply and then when set this was removed, inserted and fitted to the window ledge with sand and cement concrete render. This was then levelled and set.
